Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens
Fifteen members and friends traveled a bit Down East to visit www.mainegardens.org. We hit the jackpot on weather, as you can see from the photos, and also benefited from Pam, our knowledgeable and energetic guide. After two hours of exploration we enjoyed a pre-arranged lunch in the Gardens’ conference center. Some of us stayed on to explore more of the Boothbay peninsula. This was the Society’s first long-distance field trip in memory, and its success should propel us to more adventures in the future!
2010 Picnic and Flower Show
Cathy Felton and Mary Huntoon gave us a glimpse into the world of flower show judging, praising and critiquing the many arrangements brought to Tuck’s Point by our members. They gave us a wealth of information about how arrangements are judged, aesthetic considerations – size, form, color, condition of materials.
Many thanks to Mary and Cathy for their efforts in examining and then giving comments on every single arrangement. Thanks and congratulations to all the members who created this diverse array of arrangements.
Cathy and Mary awarded ribbons for the best arrangement in each category.
